Acciona SA has secured an environmental permit for the development of its 923 MW MacIntyre wind farm project in Queensland, Australia.
The project will be installed in the state's Southern Downs region and will consist of 162 Nordex Delta4000 5.7-MW turbines. Once commissioned, the project can generate enough power for up to 620,000 local homes. CleanCo has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 400 MW capacity of the project. It will also provide energy for Korea Zinc’s Australian subsidiary Sun Metals Corporation.
Acciona owns 70% of the project while the remaining 30% is held by Ark Energy Corp, a unit of Korea Zinc Co Ltd. The project represents about AUD1.7 billion (US$1.23 billion) of investment.
