Van Oord to install monopiles at 1.5 GW Offshore wind farm in Poland

Van Oord has been contracted for the transportation and installation of monopiles at Orsted and PGE's 1500 MW Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Poland.

The Baltica 2 wind farm located in the vicinity of Osieki Lęborskie, in the Choczewo commune, in the Wejherowo district together with Baltica 3 will create the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm of 2.5 GW total capacity. The wind facilities will contribute significantly to Poland’s green energy transition, delivering clean energy to nearly four million households in Poland.

Van Oord will transport and install 111 extended monopiles, of which 107 will serve as foundations for wind turbines and the other 4 as foundations for offshore substations. The company will deploy offshore installation vessel Aeolus and heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen on this important Polish offshore wind project. Once operation it will produce enough green energy to cover the power consumption of approximately 2.4 million Polish households.
