PGE Group and Ørsted signed an agreement with GE Vernova, represented in Poland by GE Power Sp. z o.o., and Polimex Mostostal for the construction of necessary onshore infrastructure for exporting power from Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Power Plant in the Pomerania region of Poland.
The General Contractor will implement the contract in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction mode. The task comprises developing the 275/400 kV high-voltage transformer substation and onshore export cable lines necessary for transmitting the power to the Polish Power System. The first construction works are planned to start in 2024 while testing and putting the connection infrastructure online is scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
The 1,498 MW Baltica 2 located in the vicinity of Osieki Lęborskie, in the Choczewo commune, in the Wejherowo district together with Baltica 3 will create the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm of 2.5 GW total capacity. The wind facilities will contribute significantly to Poland’s green energy transition, delivering clean energy to nearly four million households in Poland.
