Baltic Power Sp. z o.o., a joint venture between PKN ORLEN S.A. and Northland Power Inc., has selected Vestas as their turbine supplier for the 1.2 GW Baltic Power Offshore Wind Project in the Baltic Sea, Poland. The wind facility will have a swept area of more than 43,000 m2 located about 23 km north of the Baltic coastline, near Łeba and Choczewo.
Vestas will equip the offshore wind farm with 76 V236-15.0 MW turbines which can produce up to 80 GWh/year, sufficient to power about 20,000 European households and displace over 38,000 tonnes of CO2, which is equivalent to eliminating 25,000 passenger vehicles from the road annually.
The construction works of the project will begin in 2024 and the commercial operations are expected to begin in 2026.
