The 24th and final nearshore turbine has been installed for the Windplanblauw wind farm located in the northwest corner of the province of Flevoland in the Netherlands.
Windplanblauw is a Dutch repowering project from Vattenfall and SwifterwinT replacing 74 turbines with 61 new and more powerful ones, of which 24 are built in the IJsselmeer lake. Vattenfall owns 14 of the nearshore units.
The IJsselmeer park is being built to replace the 16.8-MW Irene Vorrink nearshore wind farm, which was removed in March 2022 after 25 years of operation. It will be powered by 24 turbines grouped in two rows. The new park will be a component of the broader Windplanblauw complex, which combines land- and lake-based wind turbines. The land-based portion is already operational, while the entire 61-turbine complex is expected to go online in August 2024.
The two rows of GE Cypress 5.5 MW turbines have a combined capacity of 132 MW, producing the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 130.000 Dutch households.
