Zelestra has reached financial close on its landmark Aurora hybrid project in Chile’s Tarapacá region. The USD 282 million package, arranged by Natixis CIB and BNP Paribas with VAT support from BCI, supports a 220 MW_dc solar PV plant combined with a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) — one of Latin America’s largest such projects. Construction is already underway under Zelestra’s in-house EPC team, with battery deliveries expected in Q4 2025. Upon completion, the hybrid system will generate approximately 600 GWh annually—enough to power around 200,000 Chilean homes—and deliver night-time renewable energy to Abastible via a long-term PPA.
This deal highlights Zelestra’s financial strength and technological leadership in delivering large-scale, multi-technology renewables: the company now manages a 7 GW+ portfolio across Latin America, with 1.7 GW already contracted or operational
