Wärtsilä Corp has partnered with the low carbon energy provider SSE to supply a 50 MW/100 MWh energy storage system in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, UK.

The battery will be directly connected to the SSE´s transmission network. The project will strengthen access to clean, reliable energy by balancing the intermittency of renewables, which will benefit the UK´s national grid.

The new solar and battery system is expected to be serviceable in September 2023.
