Voltalia has announced the start of the construction of its 140 MW Karavasta solar photovoltaic farm in Albania.
Voltalia will sell half of the power produced by the solar plant to the Albanian government, under the 30-year contract awarded in 2020, while the other half will be sold on the open market.
The solar farm is expected to start generating power in the second half of 2023. Once operational, the project can generate enough electricity to meet the annual demand of 220,000 people, while reducing emissions by more than 96,500 tons of CO2.
