Vestas has secured a 50 MW order from Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt GmbH to supply and install eight V162-6.2 MW turbines at the Bad Lauchstädt TerraWatt project site in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The project will also include a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement to ensure the optimized performance of the asset. Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt plans to utilize wind energy to produce green hydrogen at an industrial scale through a nearby electrolysis plant of up to 30 MW.
The project aims to support the decarbonization and indirect electrification of 'hard-to-abate' sectors such as heavy transport and chemical industries.
Delivery and installation of the turbines are scheduled to begin in Q1 of 2024, with commissioning scheduled for Q2 of 2024.
