Vestas has signed a deal with Casa dos Ventos for two projects in Brazil, which will have a combined capacity of 1.3 GW. Vestas will supply, install, operate, and maintain 168 V150-4.5 MW turbines for the Serra do Tigre wind park and 123 V150-4.5 MW turbines for the Babilônia Centro project. Additionally, Vestas will provide a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement for both projects to optimize energy production and business case certainty.
The Serra do Tigre wind park, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, has a capacity of 756 MW while the Babilônia Centro, situated in the state of Bahia, has a capacity of 554 MW. The turbines will be delivered in the third quarter of 2024 and commissioning is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
This deal strengthens Vestas' presence in the Brazilian wind energy market, as it already has a portfolio of over 6 GW of wind turbines installed or under construction in the country. The company aims to use its expertise to develop sustainable solutions to support Brazil's transition to renewable energy sources.
