Vattenfall AB has selected Havfram AS as its preferred supplier for turbine installation services for the Norfolk offshore wind projects in the UK. The project aims to boost Vattenfall’s wind portfolio and expand the company’s footprint in the UK, where it recently announced a US$2.1 billion investment in offshore wind farms. Havfram Wind will use its NG20000X jack-up wind turbine installation vessel, equipped with a 3,200-ton crane, for the works. The three-year agreement covers transport and installation works with a starting date in the spring of 2027.
Since Vattenfall launched the development of the Norfolk Vanguard project in 2016, it has continued to expand its operations in the UK. Earlier this year, the company hired Danish engineering consultancy COWI to oversee the detailed design phase of the onshore cable installation for Norfolk Boreas.
By 2030, the UK aims to generate enough offshore wind energy to power every home in the country. The Norfolk projects will play a significant role in achieving this goal while also helping the country meet its net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050. The planned expansion of the offshore wind portfolio by Vattenfall is a promising step towards cleaner energy in the UK.
