The Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy has refused the development consent for Vattenfall's application to build the Thanet Extension Offshore Wind Farm.
Vattenfall has sought to build up to 34 turbines for the 340 MW expansion of the 300 MW Thanet offshore wind project. Based on the report of the decision, Vattenfall has failed to ailed to demonstrate sufficient mitigation of risks to the safety of navigation to make them As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
Vattenfall will now consider the next move with this development.
