Vattenfall, the owner of the 300 MW Thanet offshore wind farm, plans to construct an extension of the said project. A development consent order (DCO) application was submitted on June 27, 2018 to the Inspectorate. The Secretary of State’s decision is expected to be announced in mid-2019.
The wind farm consists of 100 Vestas V90 wind turbines with an estimated generation of 960 GWh per year of electricity. It will make a significant contribution to the government’s national and regional renewable energy targets and boost UK offshore wind capacity.
