Dutch insurance company ASR has completed the acquisition of the repowered Jaap Rodenburg wind farm project from Swedish state-owned power company Vattenfall AB.
The project will be repowered with new wind turbines to replace the current Vestas V66/1650 equipment. It will have a new generating capacity of 38 MW from the current 16.5 MW.
ASR buys eight of the wind farm’s ten turbines while the remaining two units will be transferred to local energy cooperative Almeerse. The project was initially launched in 2000. Once the construction of new turbines are done, the repowered wind farm is expected to be operational by 2021.
