ACWA Power has signed a framework agreement for the development of the first phase of the green hydrogen project in Egypt.
ACWA Power, in collaboration with The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), has formally signed a framework agreement. This agreement outlines the initial stage of a green ammonia initiative with a capacity of 600,000 tonnes per year, driven by wind and solar facilities to scale up to a second phase with a potential capacity of 2 million tonnes per year. The ultimate goal is to progress towards a more expansive green hydrogen project within the country, potentially reaching a capacity of up to two million tonnes per year of green hydrogen.
