The European Investment Fund with support from the EC’s InvestEU program has committed EUR 150 million (USD 162.7 million) in cornerstone funding to Spanish asset manager White Summit Capital’s second decarbonization infrastructure fund II (WDIF II).
The goals encompass transitioning to sustainable energy, mitigating climate change, and ensuring energy supply security, among others. WDIF II, with a targeted size of EUR 500 million (USD 162.7 million), aims to address the significant funding shortfall in the middle market for energy transition. It will achieve this by providing support to infrastructure companies across Europe to expand their asset base. The fund intends to invest in approximately 10 companies with robust management teams, focusing on three key sectors where White Summit Capital has a demonstrated track record: Renewables Integration, Sustainable Transportation, and Decarbonization of Industries. These investments will leverage the unique blend of investing, greenfield, industrial, and energy management expertise within the White Summit Capital team.
