Pattern Development has announced that the Public Regulation Commission (PRC) has approved the location control permit for the company’s proposed Corona Wind Projects in a 4-0 vote.
The Corona Wind Projects are eight planned wind farms located in central New Mexico, a state in the south-west of the USA. Altogether they will comprise an estimated 950 wind turbines and produce 2,200 MW of power. The approval allows Pattern Development to begin construction.
According to an economic impact report developed by Albuquerque accounting firm Moss Adams, the Corona Projects will generate US$3.8 billion of total impact, result in the hiring of hundreds of workers during construction and support approximately 100 jobs once it is operational.
The wind farms are expected to be in operation by the end of 2020.
