Ørsted has announced that its acquisition of a 100% equity interest in Lincoln Clean Energy LLC (LCE) from I Squared Capital has been completed. The sale places an enterprise valuation on LCE of US$580 million.
LCE is a US based developer, owner and operator of onshore wind farms. LCE has an attractive portfolio of 513 MW recently commissioned, 300 MW under construction, and more than 1.5 GW of pipeline to be completed by 2022.
Ørsted will now create a new business unit, Onshore Wind, which will be reported as a separate segment. From the outset, LCE will be the only activity in Onshore Wind. At the same time, the names of the company's existing business units will be changed to Offshore Wind (formerly Wind Power), Bioenergy (formerly Bioenergy & Thermal Power) and Customer Solutions (formerly Distribution & Customer Solutions).
