The US Department of the Interior (DOI) has granted approval for the 704 MW Revolution Wind project, a major development in Rhode Island that aims to generate clean energy. Located approximately 15 nautical miles southeast of Point Judith, this project has the potential to power nearly 250,000 households. The approved plan includes up to 79 potential locations for the installation of 65 turbines and two offshore substations within the designated lease area.

To address potential environmental impacts, the project's record of decision outlines measures to mitigate negative effects. These include the establishment of fishery mitigation funds and a compensation program to reimburse lost revenues for fisheries from other states. Additionally, vessel speed restrictions and construction clearance zones will be implemented to minimize potential disruptions.

The Revolution Wind project is set to be operational by 2025, delivering 304 MW of energy to Connecticut and 400 MW to Rhode Island.
