Nexans has secured a supply contract from Ørsted for the delivery of the export cable system for the 704 MW Revolution Wind Farm located about 15 miles south of the Rhode Island coast and 32 miles east of the Connecticut coast in the USA.
The cable system will connect the offshore wind farm to the onshore grid. The facility consists of 65 units of the SG 11.0-200 DD turbines. Once operational, the wind project is expected to generate enough power for the consumption of up to 350,000 homes and offset around one million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions which is equivalent to taking more than 200,000 cars off the road annually.
The construction of the wind farm is expected to start in 2023 with a target commissioning by 2025.
Ocean Winds has revealed that Bluepoint Wind is the official name of its planned 1.7 GW offshore wind power project in the New York Bight, USA.
