Total Eren has announced the inauguration of its first project in Argentina, the 24.75 MW (30 MWp) Caldenes del Oeste photovoltaic solar plant. The plant is located in the Province of San Luis. It comprises 92,394 panels supplied by Chinese manufacturer BYD and is expected to provide electricity to supply 17,000 homes.
The project was awarded in Round 1.5 of the RenovAR program, an energy auction scheme launched by the Argentine government in 2016 with a view to diversifying the country's energy mix and reduce the costs of electricity generation. Total Eren has also won wind generation projects in the Provinces of Santa Cruz and Chubut through the program.
