The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement with the Government of Kenya in Nairobi to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to JPY10.077 billion for the rehabilitation of units 1–3 of the power plant. The works will increase the capacity of the three units to approximately 51 MW (17 MW each). Completion is scheduled for December 2021
