Terna Energy has been granted environmental approval by the Ministry of the Interior for a new solar park in Greece. The project, which will be located in the village of Kilkis in the Central Macedonia region, will have a capacity of 240.7 MW and be equipped with 395,000 bifacial monocrystalline silicon PV panels and 1,120 Huawei inverters. The solar park will be connected to the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System through a new interconnection.
This approval comes after Terna Energy was granted permits for two other projects earlier this year.
Terna Energy's expansion into renewable energy projects is part of Greece's plan to increase its share of renewable energy in its energy mix. The country has set a target of producing 35% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The development of the new solar park is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
