The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has issued a tender for the construction of a new 100 MW solar PV plant near the southern village of Ashalim, Israel.
The station will be constructed in collaboration with the private sector through a 25-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, encompassing financing, planning, construction, and operation. At the end of this period, ownership of the plant will revert to the Israeli government. This project joins a series of PPP initiatives involving both the public and private sectors, all aimed at establishing renewable energy power plants. This portfolio includes two thermo-solar power plants and two photovoltaic power plants, which currently contribute over 300 MW to the electricity grid.
With the addition of the new PV project, the Ashlim area will collectively generate more than 400 megawatts of renewable energy for integration into the power grid. The new plant is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027.
