German municipal utilities Stadtwerke München (SWM) and Stadtwerke Augsburg (SWA) are partnering with a health institution, Hessing Foundation, to develop a 100 MWp solar photovoltaic project located on the island of Ruegen in the Baltic Sea.
The PV project will be installed in the municipality of Dreschvitz on about 100 hectares of land owned by the Hessing Foundation. The solar farm is a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system. The construction of the project is expected to start in 2024 with target commissioning in 2025. Once complete, the PV plant will provide enough energy to support the needs of around 40,000 households.
SWM owns 70% while SWA holds the remaining 30% in the solar farm.
