Statkraft has entered a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Telenor. The deal aims to provide the telecommunications company with renewable energy from the Palokangas wind project via a guaranteed power supply in the Ostrobothnia region, Finland. The wind farm is operated by Exilion Tuuli and is scheduled to be operational in late 2024. The farm is composed of 12 turbines and will provide 85 GWh of energy annually, covering 80% of Telenor's electricity needs.
The PPA will ensure that Exilion Tuuli's wind farm will receive financial security while allowing Telenor to have a constant and predictable supply of renewable energy.
Exilion currently owns 14 wind farms. The company operates 380 MW of operational clean wind capacity, equivalent to one-sixth of Finland’s total capacity. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 55,360 single-family houses.
