Vestas has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build two wind projects in Finland owned jointly by Neoen and Prokon. The projects are the 105 MW Storbötet and the 56 MW Lumivaara wind farms, both of which will be built using 6.2 MW V162 wind turbines.
Vestas will ensure the turbines are working at their most efficient via a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Turbines for both projects will be delivered during the early third quarter of 2024, and the two wind farms are expected to be fully operational by 2025.
The Storbötet wind farm will be located in the Uusikaarlepyy municipality and will consist of 17 turbines, while the Lumivaara wind farm will be situated in Hyrynsalmi municipality and will feature nine turbines. The wind farms are expected to generate a combined capacity of 161 MW.
