SSE Renewables has launched the second round of its Yellow River Community Benefit Fund, making €308,000 available for community development projects during 2026/27 in the vicinity of the Yellow River Wind Farm in County Offaly, Ireland. Applications are open until 17 November 2026.
The funding is divided into two streams: €220,000 through the Local Community Fund and €88,000 through the Major Projects Fund. Community groups, schools, clubs and other organisations located within 10 km of the wind farm are eligible to apply, with priority given to projects within 5 km. The fund encourages initiatives focused on community development, energy efficiency, sustainability, climate action and safety.
Since its establishment in 2025, the fund has already invested more than €214,000 in local community projects across Offaly, Westmeath and Meath. One example is Ballybryan National School, which received €10,500 to upgrade its lighting to energy-efficient LED systems, helping reduce operating costs and improve environmental performance.
