SSE Renewables and BnM have jointly submitted a planning application for the 68 MW Littleton Wind Farm in County Tipperary, Ireland.
The Littleton Wind Farm is a proposed onshore renewable energy project located on Littleton Bog in County Tipperary, Ireland. The project is being developed by Littleton Wind Farm DAC, a 50:50 joint venture between BnM (formerly Bord na Móna) and SSE Renewables. On 15 June 2026, the joint venture submitted a Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for the proposed development.
The proposed wind farm comprises 11 wind turbines, each with a maximum blade-tip height of 200 metres. The layout has been designed with a minimum setback distance of 800 metres from the nearest residential property. To facilitate construction and long-term operation, the project includes upgrading approximately 2.95 km of existing internal roads, constructing approximately 15.45 km of new internal access roads, installing underground electrical cabling, and other associated infrastructure required for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the wind farm.
The project has been developed following several years of consultation with local communities and stakeholders. According to the developers, feedback received during public engagement helped refine the final layout of the wind farm. The planning application is supported by an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR), a Natura Impact Statement (NIS), and other technical documents, all of which have been made available for public review during the statutory consultation period.
Members of the public are being invited to view additional information on the offshore planning consent application for SSE’s flagship Arklow Bank Wind Park 2 project.
