SJVN has started the construction of the 1 GW Bikaner solar power project in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The utility continues to expand its solar project development in the state after announcing in February 2022 its goal to install 10 GW of solar PV over the next five years.
The project will utilize Indian cells and modules being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking program of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Bikaner solar park is anticipated to be operational by March 2024. Once completed, the generated electricity will be used for self-consumption or by government institutions, either directly or via distribution corporations.
