Tata Power Solar has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from India's state-owned SJVN for a 1 GW ground-mount solar project. The INR5,492 crore (US$709.9 million) solar farm will be erected in Rajasthan's Bikaner district.
In an auction conducted by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Tata Power obtained grid-connected PV capacity under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) plan, utilizing the viability gap financing amount as a bid parameter.
The scope of work for Tata Power Solar involves delivering the commissioned solar plant to SJVN from start to finish. It will also be in charge of organizing land for outright purchase, electricity evacuation systems up to the ISTS substation, and three-year operation and maintenance of the solar facility.
The project is planned to generate 2454.55 million units of energy in the first year and 56,838.32 million units during the next 25 years. It is expected to be finished in 24 months after the EPC contract is awarded.
