Marine Power Systems (MPS) has partnered with Simply Blue Group to develop a 100 MW offshore wind project for Crown Estate Scotland's Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round.
Simply Blue Group and MPS will deploy 6 wind turbines on the MPS floating platform, PelaFlex, in sea depths between 60 and 100 m. The system has been intended to maximize local content distribution through a decentralized logistics model, and these benefits help utility-scale developers save costs while maximizing local economic benefits and accelerating the development of industrial-scale farms.
The objective of the INTOG leasing round is to support projects that will directly reduce emissions from oil and gas production (up to a total capacity of 5.7 GW) as well as drive commercialization and innovation in offshore wind (up to a total capacity of 500 MW) and support supply chain development.
