Sif Holding will manufacture 84 monopiles for the 800 MW Vineyard Wind project in Massachusetts, USA.
Sif’s scope comprises manufacturing of the monopiles, storage at the company's Maasvlakte 2 facility in the Port of Rotterdam, and delivery by RoRo load-out via the facility's deep sea quayside onto transportation vessels in 2020-2021.
Located some 14 miles off Martha's Vineyard, the project is being developed by Vineyard Wind LLC, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. It is the first large-scale offshore wind project in the USA.
Sif would have to work on a tight schedule as the area has seasonal restrictions on the installation and deliveries in place to protect the North Atlantic Right Whales.
