Scottish Power Renewables has selected Siemens Gamesa to manufacture the blades for 64 turbines, which will be installed at the East Anglia 2 wind farm off the Suffolk coast, UK.
A Hull-based factory has secured a contract exceeding GBP 1 billion (US$ 1.26 billion) to produce wind turbine blades for Scottish Power. The GBP 4 billion (US$ 5 billion) wind farm project is set to generate sufficient renewable energy to supply over a million homes. The factory will manufacture 115 m (377ft) blades for the wind farm, located approximately 20 miles (32 km) offshore. East Anglia TWO is one of three wind farms being developed by the company off the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk.
