ScottishPower Renewables has planned to combine the 800 MW East Anglia ONE North, 800 MW East Anglia Two and 1400 MW East Anglia Three offshore wind projects in the United Kingdom into one and will be known as the East Anglia Hub, producing 3.1 GW of renewable energy.
The 1400 MW East Anglia Three covers an area of some 305 sq. km. which is located around 69 km from the coast of Suffolk and has already secured planning consent. The 800 MW East Anglia Two is located some 37km off the Port of Lowestoft and covers an area of 218.4 sq. km., while the 800 MW East Anglia ONE North is located about 36 km from its nearest point to the port at Lowestoft and 42 km to Southwold, covering an area of 208 sq. km.
The three offshore wind projects required an estimated investment total of about GBP6.5 billion (US$8.36 billion). ScottishPower Renewables plans to confirm the major suppliers within the next 10 months. The construction of the East Anglia Hub is scheduled to start in 2022 and expected a four-year construction period to complete.
