Siemens has started the operation of the 8.75 MW hydrogen power plant project located in Wunsiedel, Upper Franconia, Germany.

The project is designed to generate up to 1,350 tonnes of green hydrogen per year which will be used to supply industrial and commercial enterprises. It uses Siemens Energy's Silyzer 300 which is based on proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology.

The plant is owned by WUN H2, a hydrogen project developer in which Siemens Financial Services and the company Rießner Gase each have a 45% stake and the Wunsiedel municipal utility a 10% stake.
