Shell Australia and SGH Energy have taken the final investment decision to develop the Crux natural gas field located off the coast of Western Australia.
The Crux field is located 620 km northeast of Broome in the Commonwealth maritime waters in the northern Browse Basin. The project will supply additional natural gas to the already existing Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) complex of up to 550 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. The project will consist of a platform that will be controlled remotely from Prelude. The platform will be connected to Prelude by an export pipeline.
The company plans to start construction in 2022, with the first gas due in 2027.
