Shanghai Electric has entered into significant partnerships with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and Oman's Mawarid Group to advance renewable energy initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
Key Highlights:
Sadawi Photovoltaic Project in Saudi Arabia: In collaboration with Masdar, Shanghai Electric will develop the 2-gigawatt Sadawi solar project, marking its largest solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) undertaking to date. Spanning 40 square kilometers, the project is expected to generate over 6 billion kilowatt-hours annually, supplying electricity to approximately 700,000 households and reducing carbon emissions by 3 million tons. This initiative supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and National Renewable Energy Program.
Wind Energy Development in Oman: Partnering with Mawarid Group, Shanghai Electric plans to supply wind turbines, facilitate technology transfer, and design a localized manufacturing facility in Oman. This collaboration aims to harness Oman's natural wind resources, establish a local supply chain, and promote long-term economic growth, contributing to Oman's Vision 2040 and Green Hydrogen Strategy.
These strategic agreements underscore Shanghai Electric's commitment to supporting the Middle East's transition to clean energy through technology deployment, localized manufacturing, and multi-sector collaboration.
