RWE AG has hired Cognitive Business to provide a comprehensive package of artificial intelligence (AI) and forecasting technology for its 180 MW Robin Rigg offshore wind project in Scotland. The suite of technology will include AI, pattern recognition, and production forecasting tools that will allow RWE to monitor and manage the operation of maintenance vessels in real-time. It will also predict the movements of the port under tidal restrictions and identify the most profitable turbines. This will aid RWE in focusing maintenance programs, comparing year-on-year performance, and directing activity to rectify anomalies.

The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed. The Robin Rigg offshore wind facility consists of 58 turbines and is the first commercial offshore wind farm built in Scottish waters. It began full generation in 2010 and generates enough electricity to power about 117,000 homes.

This partnership is in line with RWE's goal of being carbon-neutral by 2040 and its commitment to renewable energy.
