RWE has started the commercial operation of the 25.2 MW Selinus wind farm located in Sicily, Italy.
The facility consists of six V136 wind turbines with a rated power of 4.2 MW supplied by Vestas which will generate enough green electricity to cover the annual needs of more than 22,000 Italian households.
RWE has invested over EUR30 million (US$34.03 million). In Autumn 2021, the RWE won an Italian auction in which the Italian government granted a bilateral contract for difference (CfD) for the onshore project. RWE was able to construct and commission the project in less than a year.
