Siemens Gamesa has signed a framework agreement with RWE which involves the supply of turbines for RWE's onshore wind projects in Europe, amounting to 1 GW of capacity until 2027. With this agreement, Siemens Gamesa will become the main supplier of major components to RWE's project pipeline. The deal marks a significant step forward in RWE's ambitious plans to ramp up its wind power operations across Europe.
The Siemens Gamesa 5.X model with a flexible nominal output of 6.6 MW to 7 MW will be the main model used by RWE, including in its home market of Germany. The Siemens Gamesa 4.X type will also feature in various projects under the contract. With the deal in place, RWE stands to benefit from access to advanced technology and efficient wind turbine solutions from Siemens Gamesa, granting it a competitive edge in delivering sustainable energy.
The agreement outlines that a service contract for the turbines will follow, allowing RWE to carry out inspections and maintenance independently. This will further enhance the cost-effectiveness of the project.
