Meton Energy, a joint venture of RWE (51%) and Public Power Corp. (49%), has made final investment decisions for the 280 MWp solar photovoltaic projects that will be developed on the former open pit lignite mine in Amyntaio or Amynteo in northern Greece.
The Amynteo Cluster 2 will be constructed in the Western Macedonia region and is targeted to be fully operational by the end of 2024. The project represents a total investment of EUR196 million (US$215.21 million).
For the EUR 196 million (US$215.21 million) investment in Amynteo Cluster 2, EUR98 million (US$107.9 million) of the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds have been secured via the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0. The remainder will be covered through a EUR59 million (US$65 million) credit package from Alpha Bank, Eurobank, and National Bank of Greece and EUR39 million (US$43 million) in equity. The financing is subject to financial close.
