The Nordex Group has received an order from Royal Dutch Shell for the supply and installation of 14 N131/3600 turbines in the Netherlands. The order also includes a Premium Service for the maintenance and servicing of the turbines over a period of 15 years.
The 50.4 MW wind farm will be part of the Pottendijk Energiepark near the village of Nieuw-Weerdinge in the province of Drenthe. In addition to the 14 turbines, the Pottendijk Energiepark will also consist of a 50 MW solar park. Pottendijk is Royal Dutch Shell’s first onshore wind farm in Europe.
The start of supply and construction of the turbines on 84-meter tubular steel towers is scheduled for spring 2022 with commissioning planned for the end of the same year. With average wind speeds at the site of 6.6 m/s and thanks to the large rotors of the turbines, approximately 130 Gwh of clean electricity generated by wind power will be fed annually from the Pottendijk Energiepark into the Dutch grid.
