Danish energy group Ørsted SA has officially inaugurated the 752 MW Borssele 1&2 offshore wind farm project located off the coast of Zeeland.
The project has been operational since November 2020, but the inauguration ceremony was postponed multiple times because of the pandemic restrictions. Ørsted has secured the right to develop the Borssele 1&2 project after the tender held by the Dutch government back in 2016 for the winning bid of EUR 72.7/MWh (US$86.2/MWh).
The facility consists of 94 units of 8 MW Siemens Gamesa 8.0-167 DD wind turbines that can generate enough power for up to a million homes.
