The environmental protection agency in Rio Grande do Sul, Fepam, released the implementation license for a 50 MW Usina Termeletrica Cambara biomass project. The project will be located in Cambara do Sul.
The total cost of the project is BRL260 million (US$67.60 million). The plant is owned by Grupo Estrela and Omega Engenharia. The facility will use logs, twigs, stumps, and bundles of wood as fuel for electricity generation. The plant is expected to be running by January 2023. The power output will be sold under a 25-year contract.
