Alpiq has reached a deal with Renalfa on the sale of the 73.5 MW Vetrocom wind project, which generates an average of 135 GWh of clean energy yearly. Alpiq fully owns and has successfully operated the wind farm, with its 29 turbines located near the town of Kazanlak in Bulgaria, for more than a decade. The sale, however, is subject to regular closing conditions, notably the approval of competition authorities. The transaction is expected to close in 2023, and the parties involved have agreed not to disclose the sale price.
Alpiq Wind Services, a subsidiary of Alpiq, which ensures the secure and stable operation and maintenance of the Vetrocom wind farm, is also included in the sale to Renalfa, though no details about this have been disclosed. Alpiq has commissioned the wind farm in three stages between 2010 and 2012 and has overseen its optimized marketing efforts through Alpiq Energia Bulgaria.
All 31 Alpiq employees involved in the Vetrocom wind farm's upkeep will continue to work in the country's renewable energy sector as part of Renalfa's organization following the sale.
