The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation, a wholly-owned and controlled government entity tasked to manage the orderly sale and privatization of existing assets of the National Power Corporation (NPC), is set to launch the new date for the auction of the privatization of the 650 MW Malaya thermal plant.

The coal-fire power plant is located in Pililla, Rizal. In September 18, AC Energy Inc., a unit of the Ayala group, is the sole bidder for the initial tender of the project. Of the 11 groups that have expressed interest in the project, only four were eventually declared qualified that includes FGEN Reliable Energy Holdings Inc., DM Wenceslao & Associates Inc., and DMCI Power Corp.

PSALM commissioned ricewaterhouseCoopers Philippines as third-party consultant to conduct a valuation of the Malaya plant, structures and underlying land for the relaunching of the tender.
