Philippine government has signed a notice to proceed (NTP) to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal to be developed within the facility complex. The proposal was submitted by First Gen Corp. The facility is located in Batangas province.

First Gen and Tokyo Gas Co. had agreed jointly to develop the facility. Tokyo Gas will take 20% while First Gen will take 80% ownership of the project. The partners received the clearance to construct the facility on 21 Dec. 2018. The said project is vital to secure the country’s energy once the Malampaya gas field is depleted.
