Peruvian environmental authorities have approved the development of the Apurimac hydroelectric facility, which would be built in Cusco region.
The plant is being developed by Grupo Ibereolica, through special purpose company Empresa de Generacion Electrica Apurimac.
According to the environmental affairs office (DGAAE) of Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, the detailed EIS fulfills technical and legal requirements outlined in the environmental protection regulation for the power sector.
The project includes the construction of water intake infrastructure, a water supply tunnel, machine house, and a substation.
