Pattern Energy, along with its affiliate Green Power Investment Corporation (GPI), announced the commencement of operations at 113 MW of its Sumita Tono wind project in Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

The newly constructed facility utilizes 27 Vestas 4.2 MW wind turbines. According to the 20-year feed-in-tariff power purchase agreement, Tohoku Electric Power Network, Inc. will purchase 100% of the power output. GPI and its subsidiaries have the responsibility of maintaining the facility, with Vestas providing wind turbine maintenance.

With the completion of Sumita Tono Wind, Pattern Energy's portfolio of renewable energy facilities in Japan has expanded to eight facilities. Its current capacity includes four onshore wind facilities and two operating solar facilities, in addition to one offshore and one onshore wind facility under construction. The wind facility significantly contributes to reducing CO2 emissions while generating sustainable, eco-friendly energy.
